Dear Seton Academy Families:
Effective Tuesday, January 5, 2010, Ms. Sheila Ehret will begin the second part of the school year as our Computer/Library Teacher. I have decided to continue her employment at Seton Academy because she has done a stellar job in teaching the classes and in becoming a supportive member of our faculty.
Your children will receive the same amount of time in their computer and library classes. However, I have changed some of the days to provide for a more time-efficient schedule. The classes whose library days have changed include: Fifth grade will now have library on a Tuesday; Fourth grade will have library on a Thursday and Kindergarten will have library on a Friday. The Third grade will have their computer classes on Thursdays. Please remember that these changes will not take place until after we return from our Christmas holiday.
Also beginning after the holidays, I am pleased to share that we will have an Aide in the 6th, 7th and 8th grade math classes for 2-3 days per week. This will help in accommodating the classes that are separated into two groups.
We are looking forward to a successful second part of the school year; and as we begin to make our plans for next school year, please feel free to contact me with any suggestions or questions that you may have.
Thank you and God bless all of you, Lori Rutkiewicz

December 2009
Dear Seton Academy Families,
It is our prayer that Thanksgiving was a special celebration for all of you and that you were all blessed with food for your tables and peace in your hearts. As we enter into the hustle and bustle of Christmas, let us remember that the Advent season has begun and that it is important to take time for family prayer and quiet reflection.
December at Seton Academy will include several special events and celebrations, including weekly Advent Prayer Services, our Giving Tree Project, and our Christmas Program. Please review the December calendar for more activities, dates and times.
We thank you for all you do for Seton Academy and for your children. Please be assured of our prayers for a blessed and joy-filled holiday season.
God Bless, Lori Rutkiewicz Principal

November is “Dessert Days” month for Market Day. Our school earns an additional profit for all pies that are purchased during the month. Please refer to the extra pamphlet that was sent home with the Market Day order forms. Thank you for your support.
BETHLEHEM HALLOWEEN PARADE
Congratulations to the teachers, parents and students who participated in the parade, as they won the Mayor’s Trophy category. Special thanks to Donna Sabo for all of her efforts in planning such a successful event.
DENIM DAY
Our denim dress down day was a great success. We were able to raise $230.00 to support the cause of breast cancer awareness. Thank you for your help in this endeavor, and we thank Mrs. Bauman for coordinating the day.

Congratulations to Adriana Kranyecz, who won First Place in the Cheer Extravaganza held at Northampton High School. Three cheers for Adriana!

Seton Academy is proud to be a part of the undefeated CYO Girls Volleyball Team. Congratulations to all of the players and coaches!
SCHOOL SAFETY
Please use only the front door by the Main Office when picking up and dropping off your children during regular school hours. The security of our students is extremely important, and the stairwell doors should not be used when dropping off students. These doors are for emergency purposes only.
OUR PASTORS
This is the Year of the Priest, and November has been designated to honor Father Killian. He will be celebrating Mass with us on Thursday, November 12th at 9:30 AM. Also, Father Potts has a birthday on November 19th. Please be sure to share your thanks and good wishes with them when you see them.
WALK-A-THON
Despite the state of the economy, we surpassed our monetary goal for the fundraiser. This is truly a tribute to the dedication of our coordinators, Alison Shields and Karen Bartelt. It is also an indication of how devoted our families are to the school. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
CALENDAR
Please refer to the November calendar for upcoming events and Thanksgiving activities. We welcome you and your families to attend.

FIRST GRADE NEWS First graders have been very busy learning how to read and write. They enjoy listening to stories and are excited to write their own pumpkin stories. Students used their science knowledge to learn what pumpkins need to grow. They used their estimating skills to predict, and then their math skills to measure and weigh the pumpkin. Next they will learn how to count all the seeds inside.
First grade also enjoyed walking to the Memorial Fire Station for a tour presented by our local firemen. We were all surprised when the firemen leaped into the fire trucks with lights flashing and sirens blaring as they went off to fight a fire. We are grateful for all they do to protect our community and look forward to rescheduling our tour there. We are blessed to have had a wonderful beginning to our school year and anticipate more fun and learning activities. May the season bring you an opportunity to make many great fall memories.

Happy autumn from Second Grade
Second grade has completely settled into the routine of our school year. We have been busy learning about plants and animals in science; and we are learning about ourselves and each other in social studies by sharing our family lineage. Everyone is excited about October, the Halloween month. We brainstormed spooky nouns to use to create haunted houses. As our ending project for science (plants) we used different leaves to make leaf creatures. If you are in the school, check out our bulletin board.
Looking ahead to November, we will be learning about Native Americans and about the Pilgrims. We will also begin our science study of dinosaurs, always a favorite. In religion we will concentrate on being thankful for all the wonderful gifts we receive from God. We all have so many blessings. Peace and all good.
